QCIQ
Context
QCIQ is a City of Charlotte video series that explains how local government works through short, accessible episodes on topics like elections, city authority, and public services.
Problem
Residents often misunderstand what the city does—especially the roles of the mayor and the division of power between city, county, and state. Existing information is dense, fragmented, or hard to engage with.
Goal
Break down complex government systems into clear, engaging videos that improve civic understanding and transparency.
Why it matters:
Understanding how the city works is the first step to meaningful civic engagement.
Approach/Tone
A paper-cut, hand-drawn style led by Jewel, makes complex city topics feel more approachable.
I love using visuals to break down dense information.
Content/Sourcing
Each episode is grounded in real Charlotte context—drawing from local archives, documents, footage, and photography to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Visual System
A flexible visual system designed to scale across formats—from explainer videos to street interviews, trivia, and more complex desk-based storytelling.
